In mid 2005 Andrew Permezel, CEO, recognised the need for us as a company to raise the standard and provide industry leadership in Workplace Health & Safety. Andrew established a new executive position of National Safety Manager and commissioned a major revision of the AE Smith Workplace Health &Safety Management System (WHSMS) and processes to ensure that the safety and welfare of our employees is always front of mind.
The key aspects of the AE Smith WHSMS and our developing workplace culture is focused on the elements of “Education and Awareness” and “Hazard Identification”. We believe that we will have made significant progress towards our ultimate aim when our staff, our sub-contractors, and our customers are united in this approach.
A significant feature of WHSMS is the extensive use of flowcharts designed to compliment written procedures and cater for different literacy levels that can sometimes exist. The documents that form the AE Smith WHSMS are continuously updated with the most current version readily available to all staff via the Company Intranet.
As a brief introduction only, the WHSMS Table of Contents listed below describes the 28 procedures and 74 documents that form the basis of the AE Smith Workplace Health & Safety Management System.
