Clean Energy Council Accreditations pave the way for a focus on alternative energy

The AE Smith Northern Queensland team is expanding its alternative energy credentials in an effort to extend the green solutions offered to new and existing clients.

Electrical Service Manager, Jim Kerby says the informal strategic partnership recently formed with Infinity Solar, one of Queensland’s largest solar providers, has opened the door for AE Smith to add a range of services to its suite of offerings.

“We’re really excited to have put in place an arrangement with Infinity Solar that will see us become the sole purchaser of their products and their installer of choice for all future work,” Jim says.

“We are currently in the process of getting all of our tradespeople certified by the Clean Energy Council, with three members of the team already there and the rest expected to be fully accredited within 12 months.”

The Grid Connect Installer and Design Accreditation is a qualification that demonstrates competence in design and installation of stand-alone (SPS) and/or grid-connected (GC) solar photovoltaic power systems.

The process of accreditation requires candidates to be involved with three designated solar installations, as well as attending a three day training course through TAFE.

AE Smith staff have come on board with the initiative, committing to install solar systems in their own houses – providing the necessary projects for staff to gain their accreditation while achieving the added benefit of enjoying notable savings themselves.

AE Smith has three service sections in Townsville, with the electrical section added to air conditioning and plumbing only three years ago.

But while the office has long offered energy efficient air conditioning and a range of money-saving and environmentally savvy plumbing options, this new focus brings the electrical section into line through the addition of an expanded range of green energy alternatives.

“This is really the final feather in our cap, in terms of our service offering,” Jim said. “No other companies in Northern Queensland are offering all three trades under the one roof.”

“That puts us at a distinct advantage in terms of being able to provide the full package, including on-selling and offering a range of green solutions for our customers.”

AE Smith’s Townsville team are now able to provide a complete green energy solutions package in house.
