| AE Smith is continuing to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability issues in the building industry through their major sponsorship of the annual Green Cities event. |
| Being held in Melbourne from 21 – 24th of February 2010, this will be the third consecutive year AE Smith have sponsored the convention that’s become the industry’s largest and most influential green building event in Asia Pacific. “Green Cities calls to task the built environments impact on climate change and highlights the role we can all play – whether big or small - to improve the energy efficiencies of our buildings,” says Andrew Permezel, CEO, AE Smith. “It’s a role AE Smith takes seriously and is at the heart of our continued sponsorship of this important annual conference,” he adds. The sponsorship of Green Cities 2010 is a natural fit for AE Smith, who have championed various initiatives around reducing the environmental impact of the building industry. As well as a longstanding partnership with Greenfleet – where traditional vehicle offsets are combined with a special tree planting program – AE Smith has recently introduced a new energy services business in response to the growing concern about the environmental and energy performance of existing buildings. Emerald Sustainable Performance is the next step in AE Smith’s 111 year history and works with business to improve energy efficiencies of existing buildings - a key topic covered in the Green Cities 2010 conference. “Green Cities 2010 is promising to showcase the latest ideas in sustainable building, forge connections and launch new products and technologies,” adds Permezel. AE Smith will sponsor an onsite business centre and internet cafe for delegates. The teams from Emerald Sustainable Performance as well as AE Smith Construction, Service and AE Smith Building Technologies will be at the event to highlight AE Smith is at the forefront of design, retrofitting, maintaining and managing energy efficient buildings. “We’re excited to showcase how existing buildings can become more energy efficient,” comments Permezel, who believes this will be a key area of interest for building owners and property managers at the 2010 Green Cities event.
