| For the first 20 years of his career, Doug Binns worked in banking and finance in Australia and the US across a range of industries. His broad commercial experience means Doug knows what makes good business sense – and it’s a key insight Doug brings to energy management and how it ties into an overall business strategy. A move from the finance area into energy management in the 1990’s saw Doug work with Honeywell on a host of major contracts around Australia, that have been heralded as leading energy performance projects including Royal Hobart Hospital and the University of New England. He also lead long term contracts to support Public/Private Partnership (PPP) deals such as Southern Cross Station and the County Courts of Victoria. “Moving to AE Smith to lead the exciting EmeraldESP division was an easy decision,” comments Doug. “AE Smith’s reputation matched with the significant role green buildings and energy management now has in the market place makes for a very interesting time to be involved in a new era for the company,” he adds. “With a combination of energy management and business experience, I’m looking forward to helping our customers achieve great efficiencies for their properties.” Doug was also a founding member of the Australasian Energy Performance Contractors Association (AEPCA). |
