| Imran Khan (standing above left) – a Draftsman with the Victorian AE Smith Construction team won the highly prestigious AMCA Traineeship Achievement Award for 2009. The award recognizes emerging talent in the industry and is judged on the past 12 months of achievements along with a rigorous interview and review process by a board of national judges. He was also a finalist in the Drafting Traineeship category. This rising star at AE Smith has also added more runs on the board with his recent nomination for AE Smith’s own National Training Awards. Imran has just been announced as Victoria’s representative in AE Smith’s awards that recognize the efforts of apprentices and trainees from AE Smith offices across Australia. The award and $1000 cash prize is part of an AE Smith devised program to encourage, develop and retain people entering the industry. “Imran’s work ethic, professionalism and obvious drafting talents are ensuring he’s getting noticed not only by our company but also our industry’s peak body,” comments Peter Staedler, AE Smith’s General Manager of Construction in Victoria (standing above right). “We’re very proud of Imran’s prestigious AMCA Traineeship Achievement Award – it’s quite an accolade,” adds Peter, who is hopeful Imran will also be rewarded with the company’s national training award to be announced on August 19. |
