The 2008 “Green Cities” conference in Sydney has provided the launching pad for AE Smith’s latest environmental action designed to help building owners and property professionals improve energy efficiency and reduce water consumption of their existing buildings.

Reduction Pathway - a new process created by AE Smith to help clients achieve their environmental target – was announced at the Green Cities conference on 10 February.
“As Australia’s pre-eminent ‘green building’ event, Green Cities 08 offered the perfect way to highlight our commitment to reducing the environmental impact of our industry,” comments AE Smith National Sales Manager, Cameron Buck.
AE Smith’s Reduction Pathway is an easy to follow process that defines a step by step sequence to reach a client’s “destination green”. The Reduction Pathway charts a clear path to decreasing energy and water consumption as well as increasing efficiencies that reduce costs, environmental impact and contribute towards obtaining a superior Australian Building Greenhouse Rating (ABGR) for an existing building.
“We realised there’s a lot of confusion around improving the environmental performance of existing buildings but a strong desire to do something positive,” adds Mr Buck.
Feedback amongst the 1200 plus delegates at the Green Cities Conference applauded the new AE Smith initiative as a practical framework to improve building efficiencies and develop positive commercial outcomes that can be tailored to suit a variety of existing buildings:
“Our new Reduction Pathwaywill help building owners and property professions really start to walk the green talk – and find ways to turn commitment to being efficient with water and energy management into a reality,” he adds.
