| The AE Smith Construction team in Darwin has won the coveted “Golden Hard Hat” Safety Award for their work on the largest construction site in Darwin. Developers of the landmark waterfront Darwin Convention and Exhibition Centre, Sitzler Laing O'Rourke Joint Venture, decided to recognize safety performance amongst the dozens of contractors involved in the $105 million project. The AE Smith team has been applauded for their commitment to safety practices, including their “incident free” record. |

| “What's particularly pleasing about this accolade is that we've had to involve local contractors to assist with duct manufacturing, installation and mechanical electrics so initially they were unaccustomed to AE Smith's strong safety culture,” commented Tim Flanigan, AE Smith's Project Manager in Darwin. “But from the onset, the sub contractors on our team adopted AE Smith's systems and worked hard to improve their practices making this on-site award a great pat on the back,” adds Flanigan. AE Smith's National Safety Manager, Danny O'Reilly believes the attitude to health and safety of the on-site Darwin project team helped them become recognized as a leader in WH&S on such a large development: “This award is just recognition for the energy Tim and his crew has invested to ensure safety is at the top of their operating tree,” he commented.
