AE Smith's RACAH team run for the kids

5 Apr 2009

Running 5.7km or 14.1km to raise money seemed a fitting way for
AE Smith to continue its association with one of Australia’s leading children’s hospitals.

RACAH – the joint venture between AE Smith and AG Coombs to deliver air conditioning and mechanical services to the $1 billion new Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne (AE Smith/AG Coombs JV) – fielded 35 runners in the annual Run For Kids event that’s one of the largest fundraising events for the Royal Children’s.

For many participants, it was a chance to test their fitness after signing up to AE Smith’s Team Fitness program conducted over the past 12 months. While for others, being involved in their first major Fun Run event by completing the walking route was equally as satisfying.

“It was a great buzz to take part and complete the course through Melbourne – and do our bit for the Royal Children’s Hospital,” says Peter Staedler, AE Smith’s General Manager of Construction in Victoria whose wife also joined the AE Smith team.

Bitten by the fun run bug (some harder than others), several AE Smith Run for the Kids participants have recruited others and will run again on 28 June in the 5, 10 and 25km Run Melbourne event.
