Her research will focus on methods to protect and enhance biodiversity under the pressures that a changing climate will bring. Australia has enormous potential to generate land based carbon sinks and the opportunity to combine protecting and enhancing biodiversity as part of the market’s response to carbon pricing.

She will travel to the US, UK and Germany to research models and standards for protecting and enhancing biodiversity as part of the market response to climate change. She will also investigate options for overcoming policy and regulatory barriers to investment in National Parks by the carbon market.

Sara’s research will help Australian natural resource and National Parks managers better manage Australia’s natural assets in the face of climate change.
